Jury Finds Physicist Guilty of Spying
November 8, All 12 jury members in a Krasnoyarsk Territory court found thermal physics expert Valentin Danilov guilty of treason. Final sentencing in the case will take place on November 10.
The scientist was arrested in 2001 on suspicious of treason for the benefit of China and of embezzlement. He spent a year and a half in preliminary confinement and was then freed on his own recognizance.

In 2003, Danilov was found innocent in a jury trial. The Russian Supreme Court overturned the ruling, however, due to procedural irregularities.

A new closed trial in his case began on September 14, 2004, according to Gazeta.ru.
