MiG-29 Pilot Didn’t Eject Himself to Navigate from Dwellings
Pilot Valeryan Koparev, who didn’t survive the crash of MiG-29 fighter jet near Chita, had no time to eject himself as he was guiding the jet away from the dwelling houses, Lenta.ru reported citing RIA Novosti.
MiG-29 fighter jet crashed 700 meters from Ingoda-village of the Chita Region. In Trans-Baikal District, they learnt about the crash early this morning. Detectives and a special commission of the RF Defense Ministry and Air Force are currently working at the site of the accident.
Severe weather conditions have complicated the investigating effort; the temperature is –38 degrees C there. The cause of the crash is yet unknown, but the investigators managed to find data recorders. The flights of MiG-29 have been terminated until all details of the catastrophe are finally clarified. A criminal case has been initiated on count of violation of flight/flight preparation regulations.
