Russia’s Govt to Appropriate 50bn to Confront Unemployment
Russia’s government will appropriate from 10 billion rubles to 50 billion rubles to the labor agencies to oppose the problem of unemployment, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin pledged during his annual TV question-and-answer conversation with the nation that was held December 4.
“I still hope we won’t have mass unemployment, but the number of people that have temporarily lost the job will certainly increase,” Putin said, specifying that the number of unemployed will go up from 1.7 million to 2 million.
Given that the unemployment is increasing in the country, it would be appropriate to halve the quota on foreign migrant workers.
According to Russia’s statistics authority Rosstat, the number of officially registered unemployed reached 1.29 million by late November.
A special program, “A Conversation with Vladimir Putin”, was broadcast in the live air by Rossia and Vesti 24 TV channels as well as by Mayak and Radio of Russia stations.
