Finland Spends €20 Million in Russia
The Russian-Finnish intergovernmental group for the development of border regions has adopted a program of bilateral relations. The Russian Foreign Ministry reports that the 12th session of the group, chaired by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov and Finnish Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pertti Torstila, took place on Monday. “During the session, the important role of border ties and close good-neighborly relations between Russia and Finland was confirmed,” the Foreign Ministry statement reads in part.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also reports that a Complex Program for the Development of Cooperation in the Period 2009-2011 was adopted. “In it, priorities were confirmed for Russian-Finnish cooperation on the territory of Russian regions, including transportation, communications, energy (safety measures at atomic energy plants), agriculture, forest culture, healthcare, education and social support,” the statement adds. “In that period, more than 200 projects are planned, for which the Finnish side has promised to allot about ˆ20 million in 2009.
