Russia’s Athletes to Get ˆ100,000 for Olympic Gold
The amount of prize payments appropriated by the government for gold medals at Beijing Olympics may increase from $50,000 to ˆ100,000, said Vice Premier Alexander Zhukov.
“This decision isn’t final yet but it is probable,” Zhukov told reporters Wednesday. The official preferred not to foretell the number of Olympic medals that Russia may win at Beijing Summer Olympics.

“Don’t like forecasting,” the official explained, wishing good speed to the Russians in Beijing.
