Maria Sharapova Tops Forbes List of Earning Female Athletes
Russia’s star Maria Sharapova, who earned $26 million past year, tops the Forbes list of earning female athletes. Serena and Venus Williams follow with $14 million and $13 million respectively.
Newly retired Justine Henin, who has been the world No. 1 recently, holds the fourth position with the annual earnings of $12.5 million. The reign of tennis ends here, as the next three places are taken by golf players.

Michelle Wie of the United States, Sweden’s Annika Sorenstam and Lorena Ochoa of Mexico came in the fifth to the seventh places with $12 million, $11 million and $10 million respectively. So, the dominance of tennis and golf in the Forbes list of the richest female athletes is overwhelming.

Forbes often rates very high Maria Sharapova. The beautiful Russian was the third in the 2007 rating of the richest young stars of sport and show business.
