Duty on Raw Sugar Not to Change in Aug
The import duty on raw sugar won’t change in August, equaling $140/a ton, Interfax reported with reference to the RF Economic Development Ministry.
The price for raw sugar averaged $247.04/a ton on NYMEX under the current contracts in all trading days of April, May and June.
Past October, Russia’s government imposed the seasonal duty on raw sugar to remain valid from December 1, 2007 through May 31, 2008. The rate ranged from $220/a ton to $270/a ton depending on the world sugar prices.
The plans are to revive that duty in the previous amount starting from this December.
