Most Russians Need a National Leader
The country needs a national leader, said over a half of the nation polled by All-Russia’s Center of Public Opinion Study. The pollsters also attempted to shed light on attitude of the Russians to the fact that President Vladimir Putin would probably remain influential as the national leader on expiration of presidential authority.
Some 60 percent of respondents said Russia needed a national leader, while 19 percent didn’t agree to it and 4 percent of them bluntly rejected the idea. Moscow and St. Petersburg manifested the lowest enthusiasm about potential emergence of the national leader. The indicator was just 48 percent there, while other regions had from 59 percent to 66 percent.
The tricky point is that each second respondent (52 percent) failed to define a notion of national leader. The remainder viewed the national leader as a person trusted by the nation (6 percent), respected by it (5 percent), able to weld the country.
The poll of All-Russia’s Center of Public Opinion Study was held November 9 and 10, covering 1,600 people in 153 settlements of 46 regions, districts and republics of the country. The statistical error didn’t exceed 3.4 percent.
