Sergey Kirienko Attempts to Legalize Himself in the USA
June 28, Plenipotentiary of the Russian President in Privolzhye Federal District Sergey Kirienko has made an attempt to become legalized in the States. This information comes from 5 American congressmen who signed the appeal to US Secretary of State Collin Powell. The appeal has been published in Novaya Gazeta today.
According to information provided by congressmen, Kirienko is involved in disappearance of the 5 billion credit by International Monetary Fund, when he was still prime minister. In their appeal congressmen note that Kirienko purchased realty in Chicago and is now waiting to get Green Card. Green Card can be obrained by foreigners after they invest a million dollars into US economy. The senators are asking the Secretary of State to check the nature of the plenipotentiary’s capital.

In 1998, when Kirienko was prime-minister, the IMF allotted to Russia a stabilization credit of $4.8 billion. “Obviously, this money never got to Russia and is believed to be lost.” The investigation initiated by the Russian authorities was soon suspended,” – the document reads. Congressmen also ask to find out why former prime minister took efforts to get legalized at the US territory.

Novaya Gazeta notes that the $4.8 billion tranche has been revealed in a lot of oddities these past 4 years. Chairman of RF Accounts Chamber had first counted everything up to the cent (in November 2000), then $4 billion suddenly disappeared from the tranche (in April 2002). After that the sum appeared again (in June 2004). Now Russia may find the main character missing, the newspaper notes.

Meanwhile, Sergey Kirienko is initiating a legal action against Novaya Gazeta. “It’s not merely a lie, it’s a blatant lie! I’m the freedom of speech advocate and for that reason have never sued the media, but my patience has given out, this is barefaced impudence and a lie from beginning to the end,” ITAR-TASS quotes Sergey Kirienko as saying.
